BRYANT GROUP has developed a search protocol designed to create a partnership between the client and the firm. This protocol fosters a greater understanding of the uniqueness of the client institution, and ensures the effective and efficient recruitment of candidates that exceed the qualifications demanded by the position responsibilities.
Organizational Analysis BRYANT GROUP professionals spend time in the critical early stage of the search meeting with individuals affiliated with the client institution who are important to the search process and who will be working with the individual we recruit. We learn the history and culture of the organization, its mission and areas of programmatic excellence, as well as ensure that expectations are consistent with marketplace realities.
Search Specifications Based on the information acquired during the organizational analysis and from printed materials supplied by the client, we write search specifications including the history of the organization, the position description, personal and professional qualifications, organization charts and a listing of volunteer leadership. The search specifications describe thoroughly the client institution and become the "case" for the professional career opportunity.
Search Team Each BRYANT GROUP search assignment is managed by the consultant who developed the client relationship. He or she is assisted by other search professionals in every phase of completing the assignment, from drafting the search specifications to creating the candidate source list and screening candidates. This team approach ensures that every candidate will be evaluated from several different professional and personal perspectives, thereby promising the best possible "fit" between the client and the candidate.
Recruiting Plan Working with members of the search team, the team leader creates the recruiting plan, focusing on identifying potential candidates with professional experiences, institutional affiliations and tenure in the fundraising profession as described by the client during the organizational analysis.
Candidate Source List Based on the search specifications, we research our proprietary database of development and advancement professionals and conduct original research to identify additional candidates suitable for recruitment. We also consider any self-identified applicants and candidates referred by those associated with the client institution.
Recruit Candidates The search team aggressively recruits the interest of qualified candidates in the career opportunity presented by the client organization. We ensure through multiple conversations that each candidate exceeds the minimum qualifications required for the position. We conduct personal interviews with those candidates we believe are most suitable for the position.
Verify Academic Credentials and Employment History We verify the accuracy of the academic credentials and the employment history of each candidate before that individual is profiled and presented to the client.
Conduct Informal References During conversations with candidates, we frequently determine that a former supervisor or colleague is a "friend of the firm." We use this opportunity to inquire into the experiences this person had working with the candidate, validating our assessment of the background and experiences described during the interview process.
Profile Candidates When the search team is satisfied that a candidate has the professional background for success in the position, we prepare written profiles for distribution to and discussion with the client.
Introduce Candidates to Client A BRYANT GROUP executive personally introduces each candidate selected for interview by the client. Our observation of the interview enhances our client services by enabling us to be a sounding board during the post-interview evaluation.
Schedule Subsequent Interviews As soon as the client has selected a short-list of finalist candidates, we assist in scheduling subsequent interviews with constituencies important to the search process and to the success of the advancement or development program.
Formal Reference Checks BRYANT GROUP conducts formal references on the finalist candidate. Alternatively, the client may choose to conduct references on its own.
Offer of Employment BRYANT GROUP professionals assist in the formulation of the offer of employment, including the development of the compensation package and terms of employment. At the client's discretion, we extend the offer to the candidate of choice.
Negotiation Again, at the client's discretion, BRYANT GROUP assists in or conducts the employment negotiations with the successful candidate.
Continuing Involvement BRYANT GROUP's involvement does not end with the acceptance of the position. We maintain contact with the client and the incumbent during the important first year of employment to ensure a smooth transition and that mutual expectations are being met.
